Giant Moon Map in New York Time Square at Apollo 11th Anniversary

On July 20th, 2019, it had been exactly 50 years since Neil Armstrong first went to the moon. The defining moment when Neil uttered the iconic phrase “one step for man, one giant leap for mankind” making our first footstep on another celestial body truely a landmark and a defining moment for our species.

New York was very hot due to the heatwave that had unexpectedly gripped the city and most of the east coast. However, like any fantastical theatrical performance on Broadway, the show must go on.

The Apollo 11 Take Over Time Square Event continued despite the intense heat. Instead, it was held inside the Marriot Hotel. With such a quick and dramatic change, it was quite impressive how well the teams were able to adjust and put on the show in an entirely new environment.

AstroReality powers the augmented reality experience of the Giant Moon Map, which enables the people to learn about the Moon with technology.

Despite all of these dramatic changes, there still was a significant turn out of people thirsting for discovering and learning more about space. AstroReality and Sharespace (the key organization of Aldrin Family Foundation) were happy to quench their thirst for knowledge.

At the Time Square New York event, AstoReality unveiled our special collaboration with ShareSpace on the Giant Moon Map. The Giant Moon Map gives kids and students of all ages an in-depth explanation about the moon and the many missions that have happened on it.

AstroReality is so grateful to witness the kids learning about the moon.

While also informing students about other interesting facts about our fascinating and mysterious moon. The Giant Moon Map is our first product collaboration with ShareSpace and the Aldrin Foundation. We look forward to unveiling our next project with them in the future, inspiring children and people of all ages to embrace the opportunities of today, and embark on their own giant leap.
